Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac is one of my favorite movies ever and when I’ve found out that there was a book about the movie I immediately bought it. The book is called Belongs to Joe: A Book of Comfort for a Nymphomaniac with photos of the photographer Casper Sejersen and writings of Cecilie Høgsbro.
The book is a beautiful “photographic essay, compiled a set of notes on Lars von Trier’s film script for Nymphomaniac. The script’s elemental material draws from varied sources: Proust’s In Search of Lost Time, Fibonacci numbers, Izaak Walton’s The Compleat Angler, and Bach’s principles of composition”.
With texts from Cecile about those subjects and beautiful photos from Serjen exclusively taken for this book, Belongs to Joe is an amazing homage to the film that captures the most magical, artistic and fascinating subjects of Von Trier’s work. The picture itself is beautiful, made with the real cast and even some nude presentation. Not mentioning the gorgeous design, making Belongs to Joe a very unique book for such a unique movie.
